What is Thermo-Auricular Therapy – also known as“Hopi Tubes”?
The Thermo-Auricular Therapy tubes are safe and non-invasive, they are applied to the ears. It is an ancient and entirely natural therapy with roots in the civilization of ancient Greece, where it was used for cleansing and purifying.
The tubes I use are ‘BiØsun’ manufactured, as these are CE registered and made to a high standard. They are long, thin tubes constructed out of a natural fabric, infused with aromatherapy oils and coated with a very thin film of bees wax. There is also a small filter to keep ear-wax or condensate away from the ear.
What a Thermo-Auricular treatment© involves
A consultation will be taken to find about a client’s health. I examine the inside of the client’s ear canal with an Otoscope, which is the instrument that a doctor would use. I use this to check for any perforations or inflammation in the ear.
The client is asked to lie on a treatment couch and I start with an acupressure/lymphatic type massage to the head and face. This is very effective for lymphatic and sinus drainage which is often the main problem that causes discomfort. After the massage, the client lies on one side for the tube to be positioned gently in the ear. The tube is held by myself with a small cloth over the area. It is a very relaxing and therapeutic feeling. Each tube takes approximately 15 minutes to burn down to the red marker – about one third of the way down the tube. The whole session takes approximately one hour to do both ears.
